Helping the economy is debatable. A legal immigrant that works does contribute to the economy just as any other citizen or permanent resident would. An illegal immigrant, however, does not pay pay taxes while they use up social services and resources paid for by the taxes of legal residents.

The issue is more than a fence - As a nation we need to enforce the rules and laws we already have. We need to punish businesses that hire illegal immigrants. But we also need to have a border and protect it.

I have no issue with legal immigrants, I also have no issue with Mexicans. I do have an issue with illegal immigrants. Considering we share a large border with Mexico a large majority of the immigrants (legal and illegal) come from Mexico.

Rather interesting that you should bring that up. First, what’s wrong with construction work? I’ve done it - I’ve built houses and I’ve built roads. At one point I lost a rather good paying job ($18/hour at the time) doing road construction when the company brought in a bunch of illegals who could not speak English. To the best of my knowledge they were paid about $4/hour with no provisions for overtime or other benefits.

From your question I gather that you 1) Think that Americans are somehow better as human beings than immigrants and 2) Construction work is too good for Americans and somehow “bad” and 3) as such we should not do or even want to do that kind of work just let the inferior Mexicans do it.

Whatever one’s job may be there is no shame in doing it to support oneself and ones family. There is a wide gamut of skills and qualifications among the legal immigrants and citizens of the US - ranging from unskilled suitable for general labor to highly technical skilled workers. To imply that no American is willing or capable of doing unskilled and or hard labor is ignorant. Are we as Americans simply born with College degrees and therefore unsuitable to get are hands dirty to support are family?

If I ever decided (by necessity or otherwise) to move to another country I would do so within their rules. and that is all I ask of those that choose to come to the US.

The same can be said as motivation for robbing a bank or murdering a family member for insurance money - Of course that does not justify the actions. The business owners who hire illegals just “want a better life” as well I’m sure.

Quite correct. They are people - no different than you or I. Which is precisely why you and others should not imply that they are inferior and only suited for manual labor that Americans “just wont do”. And being a person myself along with the other 300 million or so Americans, I deserve for people in my country to follow the rule of law.
