Obama Ditches US Flag in Favor of Obama “O” on Jet » obama_plane_change

Change We can Believe In

This is not even the post, before you force me to delete some comments you should look at the actual post
More of the change you can expect from Obama. If it’s not good enough for “O” Force One then I doubt it would be good enough for Air Force One if he is elected.

WHY DON”T WE STOP ALL THIS BS & PAY MORE ATTENTION TO THE ISSUES! I THINK THAT BOTH PARTIES ARE OUT OF CONTROL! THE BACK BITING, THE CONVENTION, THE ELECTIONEERING. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME & MONEY!!!!!!! WHILE THERE ARE SERIOUS PROBLEMS OUT THERE & BIG BUSINESS RUNS RAMPANT SUCKING THE LIFE OUT OF MIDDLE CLASS AMERICA

I just received an e-mail from a friend informing me of this obama flag vs. o symbol. I was shocked and did not beleive it. I googled obama sites so as to confirm and found your photos. I am now truly wondering why this, along with other strange facts about the “Big O” are not being exposed to us regular folks? I have many good friends that are supporting this man. What makes me afraid for our nation is that they are educated and good folks. I can see the youth being fooled by his hype because they are young, inexperienced, and ignorant. It’s my friends and their Bush bashing and blind support for a man they DON’T KNOW, that is scary. I can not reason with them and the facts only seem to confuse and anger them. I feel like I am part of some silent small minority that has missed some kind of boat when dealing with obama supporters. It is true that President Bush made mistakes, but that is no reason to throw the baby out with the bath water.
Thank you for the pictures and information,(we sure sren’t getting any from the media)

    Sonya,

Thank you for taking the time to look. It is people like you who will make a difference by considering the issues and researching them.

The blind and unwavering support for Obama as well as the unconditional hatred of President Bush is astonishing. As you stated, many people know nothing about Obama - My niece is an intelligent young adult who is college educated. She is also a passionate Obama supporter. When asked by me why she supports Obama, her reply was: “He gives good speeches.” I asked her to tell me about one of Obama’s positions or policies that she liked and she could not do it. Eventually when I pushed further she got angry and started complaining about conservatives and President Bush.

I have posted a great video in my forum that explains how How Modern Liberals Think. As you said, many of these are good smart people - but they are either misguided or do not know anything about what they are supporting.

Thanks for letting me use your picture of the N-Obama. I intend to make a T-shirt with the image to protest against this socialist.

A flag is a flag… nothing more, nothing less.
    So what…

  6. 6 VMOptions

If Obama becomes President, I think the government should create a new paper bill (currency) so they can put his face on it!

  7. 7 Linda

If they put his picture on money, they can give me the old money.

  8. 8 Linda

What is wrong with these young people? Do you really want some one in charge of our tropes that doesn’t have the experience and would not even visit the soldiers in Germany? These are the guys that made our country free. What does this say for all the guys that have given their life for our country. Think about your father and mother and grandparents that have served our country. You people need to wake up before it is to late.

  9. 9 Lindsay

people need to stop assuming that the young r uneducated and ignorant because im 25 and my eyes r wide open to the issues going on in our country and instead of worrying about a flag or a plane or a man being taxed out of his 120,000 he makes a year we need to focus on our country.instead of bashing on Obama,McCain needs to start talking more about what he wants to do to improve our country like senetor Obama does…thats what this young person sees so maybe u old folks need ur eyes opened..STOP SUPPORTING THE RICH

  10. 10 malagent

    Lindsay

i am not particularly old, I am 33. I did not suddenly wake up one day and start thinking the way I do now. It has been the way I am for most of my life.

The reason so many people look at someone like you and think you are uneducated and ignorent is not because of age. It is because of the comments you make.

When you say “STOP SUPPORTING THE RICH” you may as well be walking around with a huge neon sign floating above you with an arrow pointing at your head that reads “I am an ignorent fool that does not know how the real world works”

Who do you think owns the companies that you work for and that manufactures the junk you buy? Rich people do. Well, rich by Obama standards anyway, many of them are people like me that started out either dirt poor or lower middle class and worked our way up to owning a business and making a decent living. I do not drive around in a Bentley or Rolls, but I would be taxed at a higher rate under Obama’s moronic tax plan. If and when that happens I will simply fire people and let them figure out how to make it with out a job. Compliments of Obama’s socialism and stupid people like you supporting it.

  11. 11 Kurt Montandon

That’s not a flag - that’s the trademarked symbol of North American Airlines.

  12. 12 David

    Malagent, please look at this.

    http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/airplane.asp

This story has already been debunked by Snopes.

The original airplane was owned by North American Airlines, and the flag image was a registered trademark of that company.

  13. 13 malagent

It most certainly is a flag. Whether it doubles as a logo is not the point.

  14. 14 David

malagent: “It most certainly is a flag. Whether it doubles as a logo is not the point.”

It is the point if you don’t want to get sued for copyright infringement.

  15. 15 malagent

    David,

I( know who owns the airplane. I also know that as a presidential candidate one must be very careful about nearly everything they do. Sefveral things, justified or not, have been brought up during the campaign that question Obama’s patriotism. At best, this shows extremely poor judgment on Obama’s part. If for no other reason than public relations for a presidential candidate whose patriotism had already been questioned because f his own actions, statements, and associations with radicals and terrorists.

  16. 16 David

Ok, so he should have kept the flag on the plane and gotten sued.

    Got it.

  17. 17 Tired of this crap

That particular stylized flag is the livery of North American Airlines, who was the previous owner of the aircraft.

If John McCain leased a plane that used to belong to American Airlines, would you accuse him of being unpatriotic for painting over their eagle mascot?

That’s basically the arguement you’re making.

  18. 18 Kevin

Look at John McCain’s plane. There’s no flag on it anywhere, and his name is plastered on there. By your logic, McCain is anti-American, wants to change USA to USMcCain and is most likely a terrorist.

You are a brilliant, brilliant man.

  19. 19 malagent

    David,

    Obama is fairly intelligent.
He (his campaign) has a tremendous budget.
He has a staff of people who are supposed to advise him on what looks good and what does not.
The airplane is still owned and operated by the airline.
It would have been very easy for Obama to incorporate even a modest U.S. flag into the design of the airplane he rides around in while trying to become the president.

My decision to vote for a particular candidate was not swayed by the lack of a patriotic symbol on an airplane. I would not vote for a hardcore socialist anyway. I also would not vote for a person who spent 20 years listening to Rev. Jeremiah Wright or who had associations with a person who has declared war on the U.S., set bombs in the U.S., participated in the murder of Americans and is a Marxist.

So my mind was made up long before Obama used poor judgment while having his chartered plane refurbished. But that does not stop me from exercising my right to express my opinion of how foolish it is for a presidential candidate to do such a thing.

  20. 20 malagent

    Here is what Snopes says:

“Claim: During an refurbishment of the Obama campaign jet, an American flag image was removed from the plane’s tail.

    Status:
    True.”

Not exactly what I would call “debunking” by any means. This is a simple case of facts. Which are that Obama had his chartered plane refurbished and did not incorporate a U.S. flag into the design. One can have whatever opinion of that one wishes.

  21. 21 David Tumor

Umm - David are you REALLY this dumb, are you simply a troll, or do you simply do whatever the RNC asks of you without question?

  22. 22 Trig Palin

Seriously, even I’m not so stupid as to believe this story.

  23. 23 Jevon

    Malagent,

You should just admit you got owned on this one. I think there rational arguments that support McCain and oppose Obama. However, this is beyond stupid.

Below is a picture of Obama’s plane. There is a flag (albeit small) on both sides.

Please note that there is no flag anywhere on the aircraft. In addition, it’s much less discreet about the identity of it’s most important passenger.

If you want to be taken seriously, admit you were wrong in this instance. I don’t think that means your entire argument is negated. However, if you continue to persist that the Obama/flag thing is a valuable point then you’ll continue to look stupid and lazy.

u sir r an idiot. the working class not middle class are being taxed out of there hard earned cash. I am educated and i make 70,000 a year. i do not think giving a third of my living to the federal government is right.also, under mccain administration my employee provided health coverage would be taxed. which in turns means that my company would drop health coverage that i already have a co-pay of a 100.00.
As far as this subject that u have started in the above comments. This is the same old shit that the conservatives, war mongering republicans always bring up. we are spending 10 billion dollars a month in a piece of shit country called iraq. that i served as an infantry soldier in the first gulf war. 1 day from now, 10 years from now, when our troops pull out. the strongest sect of the muslim religion in bagbad will rule that country and they will be fighting amongst themselves again. it is time for us to make a lake out of that country or leave.Let the son and daughters of iraqis fight a war they we have been doing for them.

None of this is intended to suggest that you’re fundamental positions are wrong or indefensible.

    Malagent,

The fact is, the particular flag image originally on the tail of the plane was owned by North American Airlines, and to keep it on the tail of the plane after it was purchased by Obama would have been copyright infringement. However, Obama did incorporate the American flag into his plane’s design. Here is a picture of it:
    http://www.moonbattery.com/new-obama-plane.jpg

I declare this topic dead and buried.

The majority of non-partisan voters I know agree with Colin Powell’s assessment of the McCain campaign–it offers no solutions and borders on the morally repugnant. (See the Ashley Todd incident for a most recent example of race-baiting and fear mongering.) Powell leveled serious and honest charges against the McCain camp, the GOP as a whole and independent operatives with a moral clarity lost in today’s maelstrom of partisan attacks.

Calling upon Obama’s patriotism via replacing an American flag on an airplane is intellectually sad. A paltry howl at an imagined flaw. Hullabaloo about minutia. The day of the single-issue vote is dead. Time to bury the false idols and think big. Self-inflicted marginalization will force the GOP into a non-factor in the next decade.

Unless the GOP can learn to address the concerns of every day Americans in a tactile way, explicitly proving why the Republican brand is better than the Democratic brand (rather than unleashing the attack dogs) the GOP will force itself into obscurity for the foreseeable future.

If the Republican Party wishes to reinvent itself, it must adapt to the demands of the new voter. Cheap parlor tricks don’t work anymore, especially in the face of diminished American brand across the globe, falling housing prices, stagnant wages, retirement funds evaporating. Moderates and Independents are not persuaded by this foolishness. Answer the main question, “How can you make America better?” Americans are smarter than this. The Republicans had better wake up.

  33. 33 Hibryd

Okay, so now you’re no longer indignant that Obama’s campaign removed a registered trademark, but you still think that a flag, any flag, should have been inserted into the re-design? So shouldn’t you be equally mad that McCain has no flag anywhere on his plane?

  34. 34 The Plane Truth

Both Obama and McCain have flags of basically the same size and on their planes — and they’re located almost the same place.

  35. 35 Dave

    Hi Malagent,

Take a look at this photo: snopes.com/politics/graphics/plane6.jpg

That’s an American Flag on the side of Obama’s plane.

As for your vote, you won’t vote for Obama, for the reasons you’ve stated above. That’s fine. I’d rather you vote for the person you believe most represents your interests in government. That’s how our election process is supposed to work. (whether it does or not, another question for another time.)

However, it’s rather obvious you haven’t really put much thought into the information you’ve been fed by various, biased sources. So, in the interest of fairness, how about you look up the following bits of information and approach them with an open mind?

John McCain met with Augusto Pinochet without “preconditions” to negotiate the extradition of two of Pinochet’s associates to the US.

Palin’s preacher blames Jewish control of the banking system for the current economic crisis.

Palin’s husband, until she ran for governor, was a member of the Alaska Independence Party and she gave the keynote address at their 2008 convention. The AIP founder, Joe Vogler, said, “The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government. And I won’t be buried under their damn flag. I’ll be buried in Dawson. And when Alaska is an independent nation they can bring my bones home.” How is that any less anti-American than Rev. Wright?

My point is not to try to break down your political beliefs. My point is to show you that anyone can be made to seem imperfect, simply because we all are. Our task as voters is to see through the BS and vote on actual issues.

Speaking of which, you might want to take a look at socialism as a form of government. In the words of the great Inigo Montoya, “You keep saying that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”

  36. 36 malagent

I figured I would let you bring up McCain’s plane several times before I posted this image.

Hibryd wrote> …but you still think that a flag, any flag, should have been inserted into the re-design?

Dude, look at the picture of Obama’s plane. It’s got a flag. It’s above the windows near the tail.

McCain’s plane also has a flag. It’s below the windows near the tail of the plane.

Don’t believe me? Google image search will set you free.

  38. 38 You've been Farked

Why are Americans so obsessed with their national symbols? As a Canadian, it’s fascinating to see the devotion and worship you show to the flag.

  39. 39 toomas

    malagent,

It sounds as if you have been swept up by the media frenzy of snippets, soundbites, and blurred vision. “hardcore socialist….and is a marxist.” Not knowing Obama personally, I would guess that you gather most of your information from various news outlets who spin the same nonsense over and over. You believe what you believe. For most of your life as you stated. Times get tough…”simply fire people and let them figure out a way to make it …” is a statement more aligned with your character… me me me… than with anybody running for office.

  40. 40 malagent

Dude, look at the picture of Obama’s plane. It’s got a flag. It’s above the windows near the tail.

Dude, I know! You can see the little identification flag in my picture, it’s right next to the registration number. It is required for identification on all aircraft.

re “Also, by not allowing my comment to become a visible post, you’re just engaging in your own kind of censorship. If you profess to believe that everyone should have full access to the truth then don’t try to supress information that suggests you made a mistake.”

What the hell are you talking about? I am not restricting any comments at all. Some comments get stuck in the spam filter and when I have time I will get them approved or deleted. Considering there are a few thousand added per day it is not exactly my highest priority.

  41. 41 Trig Palin

So, you’ve clearly admitted that Obama’s plane has a flag.

So, what exactly is your problem then you melodramatic hillbilly?

    A. You have no concept of trademark law and still think Sen. Obama should risk being sued by an airline for using their licensed trademark
    B. You are coming to grips with the reality that your candidate has run the most inept campaign in history and has picked the most under-qualified intensely stupid hack as his VP
    C. You really are just dumber than a bag of wet hair
    D. All of the above

  42. 42 malagent

    toomas,

I have not been swept up by the media.

I do not need to know Obama personally to know that he advocates socialist policies. His tax policies are socialist and his voting record affirms the same.

As for “Times get tough…”simply fire people and let them figure out a way to make it …” is a statement more aligned with your character… me me me… than with anybody running for office.”

One who runs a business often has to make tough choices. such as laying off or firing some people to keep the business going. There are several reasons for this. One is that the operator must keep an income to support him/herself and family. Another reason is to keep the business operational to keep the other people employed as well. If the tax burden becomes too great it would be foolish to keep everyone on and lose money until they all lost their jobs.

Harsh or not many people will lose their jobs (four letters not three) under Obama tax policies. Obama’s “spread the wealth” can more accurately be described as “spread the poverty” because once you take it from the few and spread it to the many that is all that is left.

  43. 43 Dem&Rep are the same thing, the corporate party ... with two factions.

Did you hear? John McCain is linked to the IRA terrorists!
It is true! he funded the bombings in London that almost killed Jack Ryan’s family!
    [/snark]

For the love of FSM folks, there are better reasons not to like Obama than the way some campaign flunky decided to paint his plane. http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/airplane.asp

Will you tell me that he is a Arab sleeper cell next?
Or how he took the oath of office on a Koran? [the oath of office is not taken on any book, the photos you may have seen are posed shots taken AFTER a member of Congress is sworn in]
Or how he won’t sing the national anthem? http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/muslim.asp
Or how he’s not really a citizen? http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/citizen.asp

Silly rum rumors and smears like this erode the last shreds of credibility the “Republican Party” has left. Next W. will tell us that Obama has WMDs and we need to invade somewhere.

Maybe if McCain was capable of debating the issues [and not alternating between attacking his opponent and rallying the base] I would have voted for him. As a fiscal conservative, the Republican Party is supposed to be the small government/less spending party.
All we have left is the Corporate Welfare party, pretending to be conservatives while running an agenda of selling out to the highest bidding lobbyist and shoving their creepy zombie “god” down everyone’s throat.

  44. 44 Trig Palin

So, was it socialist when Reagan was president and had 11% higher tax rate at the highest bracket?

  45. 45 NM

Not only is Obama a pinko commie socialist, but he won’t wear US FLAG PINS!

    Ahem.

  46. 46 malagent

re: “Both Obama and McCain have flags of basically the same size and on their planes — and they’re located almost the same place.

Not even close. Both planes have the required country flag with their respective N-Numbers, but McCain’s plain has a much larger flag incorporated into the design of the aircraft.

re: “Why are Americans so obsessed with their national symbols? As a Canadian, it’s fascinating to see the devotion and worship you show to the flag.

I’m not obsessed with it, I am proud of it and I expect my leaders to be proud of it as well. Many people have fought and died defending the U.S. flag and what it stands for. Including some of my friends and family. Canadians should also be proud of their country. Some of my friends in Iraq have served alongside Canadian troops.

re: “You should just admit you got owned on this one. I think there rational arguments that support McCain and oppose Obama. However, this is beyond stupid.

I refuse to even use the word “owned” in this context. The English language has been butchered and mangled far too much as it is. Why must you further diminish its value?

If by “owned” you mean “shown to be incorrect”, I will admit no such thing, because it is not the case. I simply posted a photograph along with a factual statement. One can interpret whatever they will from it without changing the underlying facts.

  47. 47 Hibryd

    Malagent -

Ah, sorry, I was looking at several photos of McCain’s plane. They were all at an angle and the engines blocked the flag. I was also confused by the one sideways shot I found of Palin’s plane, which also has no flag:

I do not need to know Obama personally to know that he advocates socialist policies. His tax policies are socialist and his voting record affirms the same.

Nationalizing the entire financial system would be socialism too, wouldn’ it? McCain had the opportunity to stand up on his principles and not vote for the bail-out packages. He voted for them. Not only is he a failed leader, he’s a socialist too.

  49. 49 Trig Palin

I love the arguments of right wing retards

I love the fact that even though there are many different names attributed to these comments there are only a couple of IP addresses. So apparently 6 people are really only two people.

I love the traffic I get when people discuss issues, but it is funny how people feel the need to pretend to be more than one person.

    >Dude, I know! You can see the little identification flag in my picture, it’s right next to the registration number. It is required for identification on all aircraft.

    So then what’s your point?

Both Obama and McCain have small flaga on their planes (as required) but mostly they feature their campaign graphics.

That’s some mighty fine journalism you’re doning there malagent.

Yup, that would be why Obama’s backed by Warren Buffett. Because everybody knows that Bufffett is dirty little socialist.

  54. 54 Jevon

    Malagent,

First of all, I apologize for the colloquialism. It’s your site and if you’re offended by that sort of language, I’m happy to abstain from using it. I assume that you realize, etymologically speaking, most of our words are variations on pre-existing words in other languages as well as our own.

For example, the word “idiot” originated in Greek. It referred to a private person, as a opposed to a public one (anyone with specialized knowledge or a profession).

By the time it made it’s way into the Latin lexicon, it had been divorced from it’s prior “private” connotation.

So, I don’t think anyone is really devaluing the language, since it’s never actually been static (and it is a curious thing to attribute value to in the first place).

As far as people interpreting “whatever they will without changing the underlying facts.” This is silly. Clearly, some arguments/opinions are going to be more correct that others. If you don’t agree, then you’re undermining your own argument against your niece.

And trying to say you weren’t making an argument or a point, whether implicit or explicit, just makes you seem evasive. I’m sure you’re right a lot of the time. You were just wrong in this particular instance.

I don’t mind admitting that I was wrong about McCain’s plane. He has recently painted an American flag on it and it was a good idea (for the sake of political expediency alone).

All this nonsense about a “socialist” tax plan is also trite and not particularly well thought out. Can you explain why his policies are socialist. Feel free to use the whole “redistributing” wealth argument. I’d just like to see you make a reasoned, cogent point. It’s seems like ample fodder is available for you to do it.

Go for it. I dare you.

  55. 55 jake

old news. saw this 3ish weeks ago on cnn. its his campaign logo. boooo…

  56. 56 Jevon

  57. 57 FlagDay

Sarah Palin’s plane doesn’t have a big flag. Its got the little itty bitty one like Obama’s.

    And Palin’s plane is a Brazilian Embraer…

That’s right kids, its not an American plane. And we all know that the president of Brazil is an unabashed socialist and Bush hater.

    Good job Sarah.

  58. 58 Trent

first of all a flag does not make you patriotic. Its something else and the people that get all fervent over someone not having a flag or flag lapel pin need to get a life.

Ill admit Obama has a few socialist ideologies. But this country has run on a mix of capitalism/socialism for a long time.

People pay taxes, those taxes go into education, healthcare for the elderly and very poor, social security, etc… and many more, many different programs that our government runs that actually feed value back to the American people. Thats Socialism

Socialism isn’t just about getting other peoples money, if you receive services from your country that are paid by the greater whole that is socialism.

Privatize the Rich’s earnings, Socialize their loses. It happens all the time in this country.

The US is capitalist at heart, but some times that runs rampant if not checked and needs to be brought back in to balance by an injection of socialism(700bn buyout and several other buyouts over the years)

Wow, you are right. This is old news isn’t it? Something I posted about back on July 25th - that’s something like 13 weeks, 2 days, 10 hours, 23 minutes, and 40ish seconds ago.

No single thing makes one patriotic. The totality of the circumstances indicate that Obama has an entirely different view of America than I or many other Americans do. Obama’s view of America can best be described as socialist liberal utopianism. I am a capitalist that lives in a capitalist country and I will oppose people like Obama that push even more socialism on me.

The U.S. is capitalist. Despite the popular media narrative, the free market and capitalism have not failed. The current economic issues the United States face are directly attributable to the interference in free markets by the government in the interest of “fairness” from the Community Reinvestment Act to Obama forcing (through litigation) lenders to engage in high risk loans on behalf of ACORN. And now there is even more meddling in the market on the part of the government.

People keep arguing that Obama was not allowed to use the flag and that he purchased the plane etc. etc. or that Obama would be sued if he left the flag on the plan. Well apparently President Bush was allowed to have the very same large flag design in the tail of the aircraft used during his election campaign…

    Bush Campaign Plane

So why is it that Obama could not use it again?

    Warren Buffett.

You oppose that dirty little socialist too right?

Isn’t it disgusting how Buffett is pushing even more socialism on you by supporting Obama?

    And General Colin Powell.

Another socialist tool trying to force you into bondage by supporting that nasty old Obama man.
