Reuters: What happened to Global Warming?

Gerard Wynn, over at asks “What happened to ?”

It’s not just that it’s disappeared from headlines this year - shoved off by the credit crunch and natural disasters, for example. It can’t be ignored that 2007 came and went as another very warm year - the 7th hottest on record since 1850 according to the World Meteorological Organization.

But it wasn’t a record. In fact that was 1998, a full 10 years ago - the year of an exceptional El Nino, a Pacific weather pattern which heats the whole globe. So is not living up to the hype?

Two weeks ago Leibniz Institute’s Noel Keenlyside stirred an academic hornet’s
nest by saying that we may have to wait longer - a decade or more - for another
peak year, because a natural weakening in ocean currents may be cooling sea
temperatures.

Many scientists flatly rejected the idea, saying Keenlyside had over-estimated the effect. But some pointed out that a recent switch in a weather pattern called the North Atlantic Oscillation could indeed cool temperatures globally.

Along with the gratuitous photograph of floating ice, this author actually covered a little of the other side. Well one paragraph anyway.

Meanwhile one or two doubters are already saying the present lull in warming
casts doubt on just how far manmade are influencing the . MIT’s Richard Lindzen reckoned that if it was as bad as all that temperatures would be rising faster.

What do you think?

Well, what do you think? You could always comment here, there, or both.

Research Causes Global Warming?

It sure seems like just about everything can be blamed on anthropogenic these days. From acne or the end of beer as we know it, to psychiatric illness and smaller brains, it all can and has been attributed to that evil . And of course it’s all our fault for improving our lives through the use of . More specifically it’s all or mostly America’s fault.

As crazy as the alleged effects are, the causes are getting pretty absurd as well. We all know that CO2 is the alleged culprit. We are also told that we have to make drastic changes to the way we live - even pay taxes on the CO2 we are responsible for. But now we can add research to the seemingly endless list of human activities contributing to . According to Hervé Philippe, a Université de Montréal professor of biochemistry, his own research produces more than twice the amount of CO2 than the average American. (44 tons vs. 20 tons respectively).

I did my PhD on nucleotide sequencing in the hope of advancing our knowledge of biodiversity, but I never thought that the research itself could have a negative impact on biodiversity,
he said, during a recent biology department symposium.

The solution?

For universities, he recommends having less frequent international conferences, increasing the use of -conferences, avoiding research on well explored topics, reducing publications and evaluating the amount of CO2 produced by research projects

So there you have it: is official caused by hot air from the researchers themselves.

Democrats Fight To Keep America’s Borders Unprotected

Each year, an estimated 200,000 to 400,000 illegal immigrants try to make the 15 to 30 mile hike through the wilderness to reach cities in the United States. “That works out to a city the size of Baton Rouge, La., living in the park without a sewage system, without garbage collection, without a grid of dedicated roads or sidewalks. They move where they want in four-wheel-drive cars, ATVs, motorcycles, bicycles and their own feet.”[1]

In March of 2006 the Pew Hispanic Center (PHC) estimated the undocumented population in the U.S. ranged from 11.5 to 12 million individuals[2], a number supported by the US Government Accountability Office (GAO)[3]. Using data from March of 2004, PHC estimated that 57% originate from .[4]

Most illegal immigrants live in families where the adults are undocumented, but the children are U.S.-born. An estimated 13.9 million people - including 4.7 million children - live in families in which the head of household or the spouse is an illegal immigrant.[5]

Illegal immigrants continue to out pace the number of legal immigrants - a trend that’s held steady since the 1990s. While the undocumented continue to concentrate in places with existing large communities of Hispanics, they are also increasingly settling throughout the rest of the country.[5]

Today’s from AmericanResolve explains how politicians are once again fighting to keep our borders open and unprotected. In this case the politicians are Democrats, although that’s not always the case. Protecting the is the excuse used in this round. The Iranian Time Bomb

“Israel must be wiped off the map,” president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said it himself. He has denied the Holocaust, and his actions are motivated by a dangerous apocalyptic view of . Meanwhile, Islamic extremists are in hot pursuit of as they stand as gatekeepers to the oil flow. Closer to home, President Bush has stated that the greatest threat to America is .

So when do we stop with the appeasement and get this regime out of there? We don’t need to go to with them necessarily but the leaders of have got to go.

David Horowitz - Turning the University Around

David Horowitz was one of the founders of the New in the 1960s and the editor of its most influential magazine, Ramparts. He is the author, with Peter Collier, of a number of bestselling dynastic biographies on the Rockefellers, the Kennedys, the Fords, and the Roosevelts. With Collier he also wrote Destructive Generation (1989), a chronicle of their break with the 1960s , that has been compared to Whittaker Chambers’ Witness and other classic works documenting a break from totalitarianism.

Among Horowitz’s more recent are: Radical Son (1996), a memoir tracing his odyssey from “red-diaper baby” to conservative activist that George Gilder described as “the first great autobiography of his generation”; Uncivil Wars (2002), which chronicles his crusade against intolerance and racial McCarthyism on college campuses; Illusions (2003), a one-volume course on the of our time from the Cold to the on terror; Unholy Alliance (2004), which examines the pact between radical and the American ; and The : the 101 Most Dangerous Academics in America (2006), which reveals a shocking and perverse culture of academics who are poisoning the minds of today’s college students. Horowitz is also the author of The of Bad Faith, How to Beat the Democrats, and The Art of Political . The latter was described by White House political strategist Karl Rove as “the perfect guide to winning on the political battlefield.”

Not Just Another Engine Falls Off A Plane Post

Has to land somewhereUnless you’ve been sleeping or more likely simply had something better to do, you’ve most likely seen a news story or blog post about the plane loosing an engine during take off. No? Well don’t worry, I shall explain it in a nutshell:

A Nationwide 737 takes of in South Africa only to have it’s right engine fall off moments later. The plane lands safely and hours later the blogs suddenly have something to write about. But that’s all new , I’m writing about old here. Some of it very old in fact.

Let’s start with the rather eventful year 1953. In which Joseph Stalin suffers a stroke and later dies, Ohio is admitted to the Union and on March 19th and The LA Times reports that a jet Bomber lands safely after an engine fell off.

Later on Mar 7, 1965 the Washington post reported “NEW YORK, March 6 (AP) The right outboard engine of an Eastern DC8 Jet fell Off last night after The airliner landed on a runway at Kennedy …” Continue reading ‘Not Just Another Engine Falls Off A Plane Post’

NBC Jealous of CNNs Planet In Peril

peril-on-itunes.jpgAfter a week or so of ’s “Planet In Peril” being broadcast nearly every hour, sold on iTunes & Amazon - broadcasts by candlelight in order to go . Of course they did not turn anything else off…

’s halftime
Thank goodness for , because words alone cannot express the complete lunacy of ’s halftime show Sunday night during the / game. To conserve , the hosts broadcast the show using candlelight. It’s a good thing they conserved all that because the rest of the segment wasn’t quite so . Not only was there a giant plasma TV screen on behind the hosts, the giant plasma TV screen was being used to show the reporter — , who was on assignment (live) from the ARCTIC CIRCLE. But don’t worry, ladies and gentlemen, probably purchased some fancy carbon credits! Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here).

Perhaps both networks should read a little about Global Warming?

Absolute insanity!
Thanks !

Albert Snyder the father of a fallen Marine, has won $10.9 million in a against the for protesting at his son Matthew’s funeral.
