Why Michael Moore Movies are Successful

movies sure do seem to have a following. For some reason it does not matter how much truth or more importantly how many half truths, misrepresentations, mis-quotes, or outright lies the movies have. I wont even try to get into the lies Moore portrays as factual in the many movies. This is just a post with a short look into one of the reasons his films might be successful. As an added bonus it also includes a glimpse of what socialized medicine could be like in the future. If your a Sicko fan or if you just can’t get enough of Roger & Me or Fahrenheit 9/11, then you probably should not even bother watching this.

Video of the Day - Stupid Women on COPS

Some people are just f’n stupid!
I’ve seen people do some pretty stupid things when they are runk, but these women are pushing the limits of human . It may be a safe assumption that it’s just the intoxication causing their actions.

The Proliferation of Stupidity

Browsing the internet for web sites of like minded people can provide some rather interesting experiences. Sometimes I end up going in directions and discovering things I had not even thought about. Occasionally this voracious consumption of time and productivity is rewarded with entertainment and enlightenment. Which is one of the reasons I love the internet - I have an insatiable desire for knowledge. A desire that can be fed with trivial tidbits or the most serious knowledge I can wrap my brain around. I have been described as an infornographer. Mostly in a derogatory context yet I see it as a compliment, as it is debatable where a healthy thirst for knowledge ends and infornography begins. Acquiring an abundance of apparently trivial information is educational and aids in the formation of useful intellectual compulsions for obtaining even more knowledge.

is a very important aspect of this behavior. The ability to identify logical fallacies in the arguments of others, and to avoid them in one’s own arguments, is both valuable and increasingly rare. Fallacious reasoning prohibits us from knowing the truth, and the inability to think critically makes us vulnerable to deception and manipulation by masters of rhetoric. The media & politicians (in general), , the 9/11 truth movement, Keith Olbermann and Alex Jones (infowars.com) are excellent examples. One only has to watch one of the many pseudo-documentaries claiming to be the evidence of some massive conspiracy to see many logical fallacies in action. ’s recent movie showcases his ability to manipulate even the most trivial data to force his ideology on the all too willing masses. Which brings me to what I hate about the internet - The proliferation of ignorance and .

You can’t Fix Stupid.

It seems that the least intelligent among us tend to shout longer and louder than those who have acquired wisdom and judgment, sadly ignorance often prevails. If you’re thinking that it’s cynical of me to say such a thing or you don’t believe me? Just listen to a random Liberal sometime, watch Keith Olbermann or browse the comments on sites like YouTube or almost any forums around the internet. Look at almost any conspiracy theory, most notably the 9/11 conspiracies. At best you will find varying degrees of rhetoric amplified by negative remarks and attitudes. At worst you will bombarded with nefarious misinformation, pseudo scientific garbage and outright lies.

, Keith Olbermann, Alex Jones, Dylan Avery, Korey Rowe and others use this to their advantage, they focus on the negative and sell it to the fools. The fools band together protesting, commenting, emailing and complaining about the perceived wrongs. They believe everything the see or hear, so long as it fits their predetermined ideology. Currently it seems this ideology is often driven by an irrational personal disdain for President George W. Bush and or a predisposition to believe anything negative. These people have a greater fear and hatred of our President than they do of our countries enemies, than the people who actually have killed thousands of Americans.

Illegal, Selective English, Fake ID

One of the things I just can’t keep my mouth shut about is people in the United States refusing to learn or speak English. I don’t even mind if it’s poor English so long as it’s English. When I stopped in at a local convenience store I walked by a couple of guys talking by the entrance. I would not have even noticed if not for the fact they were blocking the entrance and acted as if they did not need to move for me to enter. By the time I picked up a few items I noticed the clerk was having a problem with a Hispanic male. Speaking loudly in Spanish he was getting angry with the young female clerk who obviously could not understand. What little Spanish I do understand is trivial and most would not exactly be considered polite - I recognized a few of those remarks remarks shouted at the clerk.

Trying not to interfere, I patiently waited behind the man while he yelled at the clerk and insulted her. After a few minutes I asked the guy to move along which he did not take very well. At this point I realized he was the same guy who had been standing in the entrance talking to another guy - in English. One can only speculate as to the reason the same guy is now acting as if he does not understand or speak English and acting insulted that neither myself or the clerk speak Spanish. After about five minute of this guy yelling he finally decided to leave the store, knocking a small display off the counter and flipping me off. While the nervous clerk rang up my items I watched the guy go out to his full size Ford truck with Mexican tags. He sat in the truck for a few moments and then came back in with the other guy he had been conversing with earlier.

The second guy started screaming about racism and that he was going to call the company and file a lawsuit because his friend could not shop in there, no one spoke Spanish, and there were no “Mexican signs”. I recall several trips to Mexico. Other than around the border there were no signs in English and no prices marked in English a the shops I visited. Although there were some English speaking people scattered about, it was not enough to count on. If I needed something I absolutely needed to have some way to ask for it. If I did not I had to move on in search of someone who could understand me.

Mexican IDID_Kansas

Whether the clerk called or they just happened in on a well timed coffee break, the arrived and got involved. After a while the main antagonist’s English skills became extraordinarily proficient, this may have had something to do with the handcuffs coming out. The officers decided to let both of the guys go despite being illegal immigrants and both having warrants from Arizona. The made both of them leave.

So far I have had to wait in line an extra ten minutes, have an argument with an illegal immigrant, wait around for the cops to talk to me, been cussed out in Spanish, and watched criminals leave without arrest. I was getting a little angry. And then some guy starts yelling about how we were mean for harassing the Mexicans.

“Leave them alone you fascists, they just want a better life and to be treated like everyone else.”

When I turn around I see a man wearing a shirt with a cartoon of President Bush as Hitler and another man wearing a “9/11 was an inside job” shirt.

Video of the Day - Hillary Clinton Gets Booed

Although I have not decided who I am supporting for President in 2008, I know it is not going to be or Barrack Obama. I decided to watch the AFL-CIO* Presidential Forum to see what the Democratic Presidential candidates are up to and how much they are going to play on the recent events such as the bridge collapse. Of course I was not disappointed - everyone’s favorite big mouth Keith Olbermann hosted the debate for an organized labor group. What more fun could you have?
Well as an added bonus I got to see booed by her own socialist followers.
