Create a Liberal - or Commie

Who would have thought that communism or communists could be dangerous? Apparently, communists are a choking hazard, contain small parts, and are not recommended for children under three years old. This is according to the warnings on the Create a Commie. I think it’s good advice but I would up the age a little to about, oh let’s say 150 years or so.

Several famous Commies are printed on the package, such as Fidel Castro, Che Guevara, Karl Marx, Mikhail Gorbachev, and Leon Trotsky. Feel free to create your own Portrait of Hillary Clinton.

Of course what good communist post would not mention one of my favorite Che Shirts as well.

Small Sword Vs. Taser

Small Sword Vs.
TaserCam footage of dealing with an obviously deranged man in a bathroom who holds a small sword/large knife to his own throat.
Although this guy more than likely never actually intended to do harm to himsef (most do this crap for attention) you can never really know. The situation ends well with the suspect walking out of the bathroom in handcuffs missing only his ego. No major injuries were received even after the deployments.
This is an excellent example of protecting the officers and suspects lives with the and rights with the camera. Complaints against the officers can usually be determined much easier with evidence, TaserCam provides critical from the officers point of view, this also demonstrates the quality of the and audio from such a small device.
I’ll shut up now, I’m sounding more and more like a sales rep, maybe they’ll send me a check?

How To Open A Mac Mini

Back in February 2007 I wrote about upgrading a newly acquired Mac Mini (1.5GHz Core Solo -> 1.83GHz Core Duo). More than a few readers have inquired asking for assistance regarding the scary task of opening the Mac Mini. Well, it’s not so bad if you know how to do it.

At one time there were videos available around YouTube and on sites such as 123macmini.com, however, for some reason the links I had just say the is no longer available. Rather than make one myself I searched around and found another, this time from SavyGeek. It’s well done and explains the process. So now that I’ve saved the time and effort involved with making my own I present it here for you Warranty voiding pleasure. The only warning I’ll give is this: Even though it might sound like you’re snapping twigs or arms, it’s OK. No really, it just sounds a lot worse than it is.

The Toaster

The Toaster

The Toaster,

Teresa poses with her USB Toaster! It toast 4 slices in only 30 minutes. Now she will never be with out toast.
I guess I was mistaken when I thought the most ridiculous marketing idea was the pet rock or the hybrid car. Oh yes, never be without toast again! Carry a loaf of bread and this USB powered toaster in you laptop bag and you to can be eating toast while doing import work or surfing porn sites.

Video of the Day - David Pogue Looks at iPhone Features

iPhoneDavid Pogue of The New York Times looks at the features of the new iPhone, as furtively as possible.

I still don’t have one of these things (yet). I’ve been a fan of David Pogue long before he was with the New York Times. This show why I’m still a fan.

Mac Mini Upgrade

There had been no plans to replace my 1.5GHz G4 Mac Mini until I was presented with a deal that was indeed too good to pass up. A friend wanted an old Sawtooth 45oMHz G4 and a 600MHz G3 iMac so he offered to trade his 1.5 GHz Core Solo Mac Mini and a 1.83GHz Core Duo processor for the two unused Macs from collection. How could a Mac Addict turn down such a offer? Of course I couldn’t turn it down, after all I have many iMacs but only two Mini’s. Between the two Macs I had a total of $60 invested, which means I get a Dual Core Mini for $60! This would also allow me to explore the newly created world of Intel based Macs or MacIntels. If all that was not enough it would also allow me to satify my warranty inhibited desire to open a Mac Mini and explore the mysterious inner workings of the tiny box.

And so began the process…

Cover RemovedFirst, off with the cover - Although this remains very low on my Preferred Activities list, it really is not such an ordeal - if you know what you’re doing. Always know what you’re doing before you break something. Especially if that something happens to be a Mac. I’m not going into detail about the procedure as it is readily available around the internet. If you just have to see it look here. (HT: SavyGeek)
