When I was a small child I decided I was a Republican while following the 1979 elections. I was impressed with Ronald Reagan then and throughout his two terms as President of the United States. In my lifetime I don’t think there has been a better leader and I have been hoping to see one come along. This election brings hope for me in the form of Fred Thompson, who I feel would be very close to what we had with Reagan.
The Wichita State University College Republicans draw attention to the Illegal Immigration debate with an obstacle course. Apparently some people were a little upset by it.
Liberals protest things all the time, sometimes putting on quite a show in the process and often being very offensive. I can’t recall any news stories about them being offensive or whether they are appropriate. For some reason though liberals are often praised as “patriots” for their disturbing antics while Conservatives are ran off stage or get news stories about whether their demonstratiosn are “appropriate”. I would have attended myself had I know of the event beforehand. Continue reading ‘The Illegal Immigration Obstacle Course’
As Islam is increasingly being portrayed as an obscurantist and violent religion which promotes cruelty, terrorism, human rights violation and a hindrance to progress & modernization, the Muslim apologists - who sometimes go by the label “moderate Muslims” - are desperately trying to defend Islam as a religion of peace, progress and modernity. In their desperation, Muslim apologists are often making extraordinary claims such as Islam’s contribution to human civilization as a measure of Islam progressiveness.
Debate on Islamism and Liberalism in the Arab World Deteriorates to an Exchange of Curses
Following are excerpts from a debate on secularism and Islamism in the Middle East with Syrian author Nidhal Na’isa and Egyptian cleric Sheik Ibrahim Al-Khouli, which aired on Al-Jazeera TV on October 30, 2007.
This is it, the long awaited results of the Ron PaulPoll Experiment. Way back on November 1st, I posted a poll asking whether Ron Paul would get the GOP nomination. This poll was in response to a near constant onslaught of Ron PaulSPAM I’ve received on a couple of my websites (including this one), my myspace account and a couple of my email accounts. Oh yeah, and the fact that I’ve driven under a couple of overpasses and watched people hanging painted bed sheets from them.
The results of the poll look pretty straightforward and simple at first:
One might get the impression from these results that 351 people voted - 32% (112) in favor of Ron Paul “Absolutely” getting the nomination along with 9% voting “Probably” and another less confident 6% opting for “Maybe” he’ll be nominated. Well one would be wrong. Like I said, this was an experiment.
“Israel must be wiped off the map,” Iran president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said it himself. He has denied the Holocaust, and his actions are motivated by a dangerous apocalyptic view of Islam. Meanwhile, Islamic extremists are in hot pursuit of nuclearweapons as they stand as gatekeepers to the Persian Gulf oil flow. Closer to home, President Bush has stated that the greatest threat to America is nuclearterrorism.
So when do we stop with the appeasement and get this regime out of there? We don’t need to go to war with them necessarily but the leaders of Iran have got to go.
David Horowitz was one of the founders of the New Left in the 1960s and the editor of its most influential magazine, Ramparts. He is the author, with Peter Collier, of a number of bestselling dynastic biographies on the Rockefellers, the Kennedys, the Fords, and the Roosevelts. With Collier he also wrote Destructive Generation (1989), a chronicle of their break with the 1960s Left, that has been compared to Whittaker Chambers’ Witness and other classic works documenting a break from totalitarianism.
Among Horowitz’s more recent books are: Radical Son (1996), a memoir tracing his odyssey from “red-diaper baby” to conservative activist that George Gilder described as “the first great autobiography of his generation”; Uncivil Wars (2002), which chronicles his crusade against intolerance and racial McCarthyism on college campuses; Left Illusions (2003), a one-volume course on the history of our time from the Cold War to the war on terror; Unholy Alliance (2004), which examines the pact between radical Islam and the American Left; and The Professors: the 101 Most Dangerous Academics in America (2006), which reveals a shocking and perverse culture of academics who are poisoning the minds of today’s college students. Horowitz is also the author of The Politics of Bad Faith, How to Beat the Democrats, and The Art of Political War. The latter was described by White House political strategist Karl Rove as “the perfect guide to winning on the political battlefield.” Continue reading ‘David Horowitz - Turning the University Around’
