Thinking out-loud on success, failure and the welfare state

Taking responsibility for our own actions and situations is one of the most difficult things a we can do. That’s why it’s important to learn to do so early, so that it becomes habitual natural. What people have been trained to do for far too long however, is to blame others. They are taught this early and often, and it is now habitual for most, a way of life for…

Word of the day: Hoplophobia (irrational fear of weapons)

Hoplophobia from the Greek hoplon, meaning armor, is defined as the “fear of firearms”[1][2][3] and as the “fear of armed citizens”.[4] Firearms instructor and writer Colonel Jeff Cooper claimed to have coined the word in 1962[5] to describe a “mental disturbance characterized by irrational aversion to weapons”.[6] Although not a mental health professional, Cooper employed the term as an alternative to slang terms, stating: “We read of ‘gun grabbers’ and…

Things just don’t make sense anymore

Thinking about how things just don’t make sense anymore. Well, not like they should anyway. Which also doesn’t make much sense, except that it does if you think about it enough. But that will cause a headache. Did anyone else get sucked through a wormhole and awaken in a parallel universe where Obama used Clinton to promote Bush’s tax policies? So this is where all the lost socks went. share:…

In a world of moral confusion, and of arbitrary and unlimited government, America’s founding principles are our best access to permanent truths and the best ground from which to question the current direction of our nation.

Universal Breakfast

Because breakfast is a right not a privilege. Its just not fair that some people get to eat ever so tasty sugar coated grain in the morning while others are left to fend for themselves and have to fight armed rats for scraps of cardboard to eat. Never mind that the scraps of cardboard probably come from the 50″ plasma TV purchased in lieu of food with money that did…

The Obama National Anthem

The Soviet National anthem adapted to the O’messiah by Glenn Beck. If Obama, uhm I uh mean, The Messiah, Lord Barry, is elected this will surely become illegal. So enjoy it and pass it along while you still can! BTW, is this damn election over yet? We’ve been at this for twenty some months now and I’m getting sick of it. share: Bookmark on Delicious Digg this post Recommend on…

Pulling Teeth at Home

In preparation for dental implants I had two teeth pulled this morning. My only complaint is that for some reason the dentist does not see fit to provide a pain medication prescription after two rather difficult extractions. She actually suggested using Ibuprofen. Oh well, it wont last long and if it gets too bad I’ll simply call and demand a prescription. As I’m writing this the local anesthetic is nearing…

Walter Williams, an American economist and college professor, stated the following: “Capitalism is relatively new in human history. Prior to capitalism, the way people amassed great wealth was by looting, plundering and enslaving their fellow man. Capitalism made it possible to become wealthy by serving your fellow man.“[1] Although some still loot, plunder and enslave; I would have to agree with Williams. Can you name one other system that has…
