The myth of a worldwide consensus on AnthropogenicGlobal Warming takes another hit as the American Physical Society, an organization representing nearly 50,000 physicists, reverses its position on climate change and starts a public debate on the topic.[1][2][3]
There is a considerable presence within the scientific community of people who do not agree with the IPCC conclusion that anthropogenic CO2 emissions are very probably likely to be primarily responsible for the global warming that has occurred since the Industrial Revolution. Since the correctness or fallacy of that conclusion has immense implications for public policy and for the future of the biosphere, we thought it appropriate to present a debate within the pages of P&S concerning that conclusion.[1]
There isa also the recent petition signed by 31,000 scientists.
There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.[4]
BusinessWeek and others are reporting that the “First Ever” GHG fees I wrote about earlier today have been approved by Bay Area regulators.
Air pollution regulators in the San Francisco Bay area have voted overwhelmingly to approve new rules that impose fees on businesses for emitting greenhouse gasses.
A spokeswoman for the Bay Area Air Quality Management District says the agency’s board of directors voted 15-1 on Wednesday to charge companies 4.4 cents per ton of carbon dioxide they emit.
Experts say the fees, which cover nine counties in the Bay Area, are the first of their kind in the country.
After a week or so of CNN’s “Planet In Peril” being broadcast nearly every hour, sold on iTunes & Amazon - NBC broadcasts by candlelight in order to go green. Of course they did not turn anything else off…
NBC’s green halftime Thank goodness for YouTube, because words alone cannot express the complete lunacy of NBC’s green halftime show Sunday night during the Eagles/Cowboys game. To conserve energy, the hosts broadcast the show using candlelight. It’s a good thing they conserved all that energy because the rest of the segment wasn’t quite so green. Not only was there a giant plasma TV screen on behind the hosts, the giant plasma TV screen was being used to show the reporter — Matt Lauer, who was on assignment (live) from the ARCTIC CIRCLE. But don’t worry, ladies and gentlemen, NBC probably purchased some fancy carbon credits! Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here).
Perhaps both networks should read a little about Global Warming?
Say what?
